2-Day Hike up to lake Gadenlouwi, 28.05.2026
This week I had some spare time and decided to do a hike I had on my list for several years: The route starts in Gadmen BE at around 1000m.a.s.l. When I got out of the bus (I was the only passenger), the shear vertical walls of mount Radlefshorn, still cloaked in dense forest at this height, already waited for me. In 5 minutes or so I reach the Gadmerwasser, the valley’s river, where I refuel my water supplies and take a short break before taking on the looming 1000m climb. The trail starts steep and stays that way. At least the trees spend some protection from the sun for the first few vertical meters. After one hour, the trees thin out, and after another half-hour I reach my first checkpoint: the signpost.
